Big Bear Snow 10 is after I had walked forever in the snow to the target location in running shoes, shorts and a t-shirt. It honestly wasn’t that cold, all that Norse blood running through me maybe, lol. I had to walk because right about the spot where I took this picture, the VW started sliding down the hill. While I walked to shoot the picture, my boy Scotty turned the car back around for the trip back. Here he waits all toasty roasty, lol. We didn’t expect snow, and when we ran into it we didn’t expect it to be this much in the few short hours it had fallen. Scotty had not had the Jetta long, and wanted to to see how he, and it, would do on mountain roads. Lastly, I left him behind in the warmth of the car because it was my gig, and there was no reason for both of us to die of exposure. Oh, yeah, a local drove past me when I walked back, he’s all bundled up and I’m dressed for summer. He just shook his head in the “Crazy flatlander” way they do up there.

Big Bear Snow 9, stopped by the lake on the way back out. We’d bought a pizza in touwn, and let it sit and cool down so we could eat it on the way down. Not bad pizza either! This is at the lack on the big bear side of the bridge.

Big Bear Snow 8, on the way up the mountain, right about the time my boy, Scotty, and I started thinking, okay, it’s snowing, but maybe it won’t be so bad, a light dusting.

The trip was routine, on was was a cloudy nut not cold day in the desert, and had been warm and sunny in the mountains the day before. Little did I know I’d soon be trudging through snow soon wearing only shorts and a t-shirt. The locals must have thought I was a nut case.

Big Bear Snow 2. A few years ago I had to make a second trip up to Big Bear, CA to obtain photos that had not turned out from the day before. The prior pictures were too dark, as the sun had set, so I went up the following day and re-shot the pictures. I decided on the way to take some pictures for my own personal use along the way. This is one of them.

Interestingly, when I had been up on the mountain the previous day, there was no snow fall, no snow on the ground, it was a sunny fall day. This is just about 15 hours later.
